Samuel,
Thanks for helping to bring this to light. I, of course, agree with you, and find Monsanto's efforts to be dispicable (even if predictable).
By the way, I would like to know where are all the corporate apologists who always like to say "hey, we're just giving consumers what they want"? As you say, its clear that consumers want - and are willing to pay for - more information.
Therefore there is not only the issue of consumers being denied the information they deserve and want, but also of denying dairy producers the right to promote something that's in demand, namely milk free of rBST. And if they cannot _tell_ consumers what kind of milk they're selling then that seems to be both a restraint on trade, as well as violation of free speech.

Lastly, I could see this having two possibly unintended consequences. One - more consumers trading up for more expensive organic milk. Two (an admittedly small effect) - some consumers dropping milk entirely and switching to soy & other milk substitutes, etc.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. When are large corporations like Monsanto going to realize that, contrary to popular belief, people are not stupid? Why must we all be treated like children. When I read this story, it immediately made me think of the tobacco companies denying they knew that cigarettes were addictive and the huge cover-up that has ensued since the info was leaked.

When are large corporations going to make business decisions that will actually be good for the environment and the people that live in this world? We don't need anymore synthetic products! Why don't they concentrate on making products and processes that might benefit or enhance the world the way things occur in nature?

Seems like the evil greed always wins and the quiet correct decision is always ignored. This is not rocket science Monsanto - get with the program and change with the tide. People are getting smarter by the minute and we want answers and accountability!
